One of America's most respected actors, Peter Gallagher has starred on stage, television and in film, delivering stellar performances with every role he tackles.

After graduating from Tufts University, Gallagher made his professional stage debut in the 1977 revival of "Hair," followed by roles in "Grease," and "Guys and Dolls." In 1986 Gallagher earned a Tony Award nomination for "Long Day's Journey Into Night." He received further acclaim with a Theatre World Award for "A Dolls Life" and a Clarence Derwent Award for "The Real Thing." He returned to Broadway in November 2001 with "Noises Off" and in the fall of 2002 he starred in "The Exonerated."

The segue from stage to film began in 1980 with Gallagher's feature film debut in "The Idolmaker." Many film roles have followed including: "Bob Roberts," "The Hudsucker Proxy," "While You Were Sleeping," "American Beauty" and "Center Stage." He was last seen co-starring in the Adam Sandler box office smash, "Mr. Deeds."

Galllagher has enjoyed extensive film work with director Robert Altaman, appearing in "The Player," "Short Cuts" and "Mrs. Parker and the Vicious Circle." Gallagher has also had a similar relationship with director Steven Soderbergh, appearing in both "sex, lies and videotape" and "The Underneath." He will be seen this summer in New Line Cinema's "How To Deal."

Gallagher will also star this season in Fox's new drama, "The O.C" alongside Benjamin McKenzie and Mischa Barton. He can also be seen this fall in the original Oxygen film, "The Man with Two Wives."
