With seven years on "Yo! MTV Raps," television specials, movies, records, management companies, record labels, clothing lines and one of New York's top-rated radio shows, Ed and Dre are more than just celebrities and businessmen; they are hip hop legends!

So many people think Ed and Dre were friends since day one or that they went to school together. Actually, Ed and Dre didn't meet each other until they were in their twenties. They met at the audition for "Yo! MTV Raps." Before that, they never even laid eyes on each other.

One thing is for certain though: They grew up in very similar neighborhoods and they both had very colorful childhoods.

Ed and Dre definitely have their own vibe and that is what makes them work so well together. They also share a basic philosophy about life: They believe that no matter how bad things seem, you can always find humor in realness.

Thursday, August 17, 1995 was the last day of "Yo! MTV Raps" and it was the first day of the rest of Ed and Dre's lives. They have come a long way since they began their careers on MTV and plan on going a lot further.

Their newest project, "The Jump Off," an internationally syndicated mix show, puts Ed and Dre back into a position of being able to reach out to people all over the world and show them where hip hop has been and where it is going.
