Lewis Black Goes Bowling for Laughs at The South Beach Comedy Festival

March 16 02:05 PM by Matt Tobey | Comments:

Miami's South Beach is well-known for the many perfect, athletic bodies that traipse along its sandy shores, so it's only natural that it would also feature the sport that exemplifies the pinnacle of athleticism: bowling. With that in mind, here's a video from the  South Beach Comedy Festival, featuring Lewis Black, Marc Maron, Amy Schumer and Renee Gauthier hanging out in a bowling alley, talking about their favorite South Beach things, like body shame and mannequin boobs.

Watch Jeff Ross at the South Beach After Party

March 15 02:36 PM by Matt Tobey | Comments:

What's the best thing about Miami? Is is the sass-talking elderly women? Maybe. The serial killers who only prey on other killers? Perhaps. But I think if you asked a comedian, they'd probably say it's the after parties at the South Beach Comedy Festival. Jeff Ross was at one this week and talked to Bill Bellamy, Corey Holcomb and Lil Duvall about everything from Cuba Gooding Jr. and Moroccan bed-sharing.

Did you want to go check out the South Beach Comedy Festival but couldn't because you are John Travolta in The Boy in the Plastic Bubble? Or maybe you couldn't go because you are John Travolta in Michael, and you've used up all your trips to Earth and are now confined to Heaven.

Well, whichever John Travolta you might be, you have nothing to worry about, because you can watch stand-up from the festival online right now this afternoon at 3/2c! The special is hosted by Amy Schumer and features Kevin Biggins, Renee Gauthier, Brian Babylon and Dan Soder. If you have not been to South Beach, allow me to paint you a picture: a hot babe in a bikini jogs along the shore, a 60-year shirtless man wearing jelly shoes passes out while a Jimmy Buffett tribute band performs, some of the best comics in the country tell jokes for the South Beach Comedy Festival.

The festivities kick off tomorrow, but you can still buy tickets here. Besides the comics I've already mentioned, the performers also include Key & Peele, Rob Delaney, Hannibal Buress, Aziz Ansari, Bill Bellamy, Gary Owen, Capone, Corey Holcomb, Spinderella, Kevin Biggins, Dan Soder, Brian Babylon and Renee Gauthier. Pick up your tickets before they're all sold out!

March 30 02:52 PM by Matt Tobey | Comments:

Many of us dream of getting inside the world of hip-hop and living the baller lifestyle, but few of us ever do. Rachel Feinstein's Ice Cold Rhoda character, on the other hand, has rolled with all of the top rappers in the business, and fortunately for us, she's not afraid to dish the details in this exclusive Jokes.com video from The South Beach Comedy Festival.

Rob Riggle and John Oliver Promote Each Other's Hangover DVDs

January 21 04:03 PM by Matt Tobey | Comments:

There's a new episode of John Oliver's New York Stand-Up Show tomorrow night, so we've got another web-exclusive video with John Oliver and Rob Riggle goofing off together. This time around, an angry Rob wishes his parents had never met, and much to his surprise the wish comes true! Now that I think about it, that might actually be the plot to The Wizards of Waverly Place: The Movie. Nonetheless, you should watch this.

If you liked that, you should check out The Daily Show & Friends at The South Beach Comedy Festival this Saturday night with Rob Riggle, John Oliver and TDS writer Rory Albanese. It's sort of like watching this video except longer, you can smell them and you have to wear pants. Click here for ticket info.

John Oliver's New York Stand-Up Show airs tomorrow night at 11pm / 10c with guests Pete HolmesHannibal BuressMatt McCarthy and Janeane Garofalo.

FREE e-WARE RECYCLING: Address the Mess & The South Beach Comedy Festival Help Floridians Go Green!

January 11 04:00 PM by comedy central insider | Comments:

Comedy Central and the South Beach Comedy Festival want to help you AddressTheMess by recycling your old electronics (mobile phones, computer monitors, computers, printers fax machines, keyboards, TV, VCRs, stereos, home & office phones, cell phones, and consumer electronics)—so Scrap Your Crap for FREE this January.

We’ll kick off the fun at the Whole Foods in Coral Gables where everyone is invited to drop off their unwanted electronics on Saturday, January 16th from 10am to 4pm.  WBGG 105.9 & WMIA 93.9 will be on hand from 12pm-4pm to thank e-scrappers for doing the right thing with big prize giveaways including a VIP package to the Comedy Festival, Whole Foods & Staples gift cards, and lots more. ECOMB & E-Planet will also be on hand to ensure proper e-waste disposal and answer your environmental questions. Then, the Staples location in South Beach (5thst. & Alton) takes over by generously offering customers FREE electronics recycling January 17th – 31st.  As an added bonus, Comedy Festival attendees can present their show program at any Miami Whole Foods Markets through February 7 and receive a free reusable Better Bag.

Please note: microwaves, smoke alarms, thermometers, dehumidifiers, large appliances or any unit with sludge or liquids can not be accepted. Staples will only be collecting desktops, laptops, and printers with a limit of two items per customer. For a complete list of acceptable items and more details on the event, visit addressthemess.com or southbeachfestival.com.

Comedy Central’s AddressTheMess would like to thank Comcast & Atlantic Broadband for their generous support; without them, these efforts to support a more environmentally friendly South Florida would not be possible.

UPDATE:
Due to the recent catastrophic earthquake in Haiti, Comedy Central is encouraging the Miami community to come visit AddressTheMess, where they can now drop off nonperishable items in addition to e-ware recyclables.

AddressTheMess is still collecting e-ware recyclables like old cell phones and computers, and all proceeds from the recycling of these collections will go to Haiti relief funds – but they want to open the collection to include immediate forms of relief to those hit hardest – this means clothing, blankets, canned food items, bottled water – basic necessities that can provide comfort and aid sooner than later during this critical time period.

You Should Go to the South Beach Comedy Festival

January 8 03:13 PM by Matt Tobey | Comments:

SBCF_PinkPurple_logo_wTreeIsn't Winter in the Northern US great? I made snowcones last night, you guys. With real snow! I challenge you to ingest a comparable amount of mercury and animal urine by eating the sand off a sun-drenched beach. You can't do it, my friends!

But on the off chance that frozen pipes and fighting seasonal affect disorder-induced suicidal urges aren't your cup of tea, you could do a lot worse than Miami Beach. That's where The South Beach Comedy Festival will be held from January 21 through 23. There are a ton of great comics scheduled for this year like Brian ReganJohn Oliver, Rob Riggle, Aziz Ansari and all these other guys (click the links for ticket info):

Brian Regan – 1/23/10 @ 7p The Fillmore at the Jackie Gleason Theater

Mike Birbiglia – 1/21/10 @ 7:30p Lincoln Theater

Jon LaJoie – 1/22/10 @ 8p The Colony Theater

Joe DeRosa will be recording his new album for Comedy Central this weekend, and you could be there. If you'll be in New Jersey on Friday or Saturday, be sure to check out one of Joe's shows at the Stress Factory. You know, when you get done rehearsing with your Springsteen cover-band. Not only will you get an evening of joy, but you just might hear yourself laughing on the album. And isn't that the American Dream? Click here for tickets. Here's a clip of Joe DeRosa in South Beach earlier this year.
