1. Convicted:: Prostitution, Hollywood, CA.
Facts: Pla was observed by undercover officer engaging in sex and then accepting money. Subject waived Miranda rights and explained he was not engaged in prostitution but "performing light to medium manual probing for money." Later, Pla retracted the "for money part" and requested a lawyer.
2. Convicted:: Prostitution, Hollywood, CA.
Dismissed: Pla was observed by officers wearing only shorts on corner of Vine and Hollywood. Pla accepted money from John #1 and engaged in sex act with same. At trial, Pla testified that John #1 gave Pla the money to buy a shirt and Pla was so grateful for this gesture that he had sex with John #1. Charges were dismissed upon hung jury.
Note: An anonymous letter was received by Superior Court saying Pla had sex with male juror in bathroom prior to deliberations. Could not be substantiated. No charges filed.
3. Convicted: Credit card fraud, Miami, Florida.
Facts: Purporting to be the love of Simon Cowell, Pla offered American Idol auditions in exchange for credit card payments of $1,000 per audition. No auditions were delivered. Pla claimed to have "broken up" with Cowell unexpectedly before the auditions could be arranged.
