RENATA LUCZAK AND JENNI RUNYAN PROMOTED TO
VICE PRESIDENTS, COMMUNICATIONS AT COMEDY CENTRAL®
NEW YORK, July 26, 2012 – Renata Luczak and Jenni Runyan have been promoted to Vice Presidents, Communications at COMEDY CENTRAL, it was announced by Steve Albani, Senior Vice President, Communications, to whom they report.
“Renata and Jenni are incredibly innovative and extremely inspired communications strategists, handling the highest-profile series and initiatives for COMEDY CENTRAL, including The Daily Show, The Colbert Report, South Park, Tosh.0, and Workaholics,” said Albani. “Their knowledge and expertise of the industry and trends in communications, as well as with our increasingly hard-to-reach target demographic of young males, combined with their strategic thinking and strong, trusting relationships with the media have been instrumental in making the group one of the most effective and inventive PR teams in the industry.”
Luczak, based in COMEDY CENTRAL’s New York offices, is responsible for the press effort for such high-profile series as “The Daily Show with Jon Stewart,” “The Colbert Report,” and “Tosh.0” and has handled numerous priority launches for the brand. She played an instrumental role in publicizing the “Rally to Restore Sanity and/or Fear” and has been a key contributor to developing and implementing the communications strategy for COMEDY CENTRAL’s “Indecision” political coverage since 2000. Luczak joined COMEDY CENTRAL directly after graduating in 1997 and also has spearheaded publicity efforts for various brand extentions including COMEDY CENTRAL Home Entertainment, COMEDY CENTRAL Records and COMEDY CENTRAL Live Entertainment, including the South Beach Comedy Festival, the New York Comedy Festival and targeted participation in events including Bonnaroo and SXSW.
In her new position, Luczak will take on the recently announced Enterprises division, a new business division that will focus on building upon COMEDY CENTRAL’s leadership position in the industry through consumer products, home video, CDs and digital downloads, publishing, and live touring.
Runyan, based in Santa Monica, joined COMEDY CENTRAL in 2001 and has headed up the brand’s west coast Communications team since 2006. During this time she has been responsible for developing and implementing publicity campaigns for virtually every COMEDY CENTRAL series shot on the west coast, including such high-profile series as “South Park,” “The Sarah Silverman Program,” “Drawn Together,” “The Man Show,” “The Showbiz Show with David Spade,” “Mind of Mencia,” “Crank Yankers” and most recently, the hit series “Workaholics.”
Additionally, Runyan has overseen the brand’s relationship with the Hollywood Trade press, and is responsible for planning and executing COMEDY CENTRAL’s participation in the Television Critics Association (TCA) semi-annual press tours, as well as providing planning and on-site assistance for the Primetime and Creative Arts Emmy® ceremonies. Prior to her career at COMEDY CENTRAL, Runyan was a Junior Publicist at Turner Entertainment and a Publicity Assistant at HBO. Her new responsibilities will include developing press strategies for the upcoming series “The Burn with Jeff Ross,” Daniel Tosh’s upcoming animated series “Brickleberry” and “The Kroll Show,” starring Nick Kroll.
