World Premiere Stand-up Special Airing On COMEDY CENTRAL On January 8
NEW YORK, December 20, 2011 – Tom Papa professes and proclaims his extraordinary outlook on all things ordinary in his new digital album, “Tom Papa: Live In New York City” released on COMEDY CENTRAL Records on January 10.
The album is an extended audio recording of "Tom Papa: Live In New York City" World Premiere stand-up special, which premieres on Sunday, January 8 at 10:00 p.m. ET/PT on COMEDY CENTRAL.
Filmed at the Union Square Theater in New York City, the veteran comedian and television and radio personality discloses the details of his life: the past, the present and what he hopes to be the future. From creating the worst roommates on the planet (his kids), to what he would have done differently if he knew Facebook was going to exist, to living in a house where even his cats are female, Papa's personal discussions provide insight and understanding to the hilarious nature of everyday life.
"Tom Papa: Live In New York City" is directed by Rob Zombie, executive produced by Papa, Brian Volk-Weiss, Dave Becky, and Josh Lieberman and produced by Jay Chapman.
January is Stand-Up Month on COMEDY CENTRAL and the month of laughs kicks off with the World Premiere of "Tom Papa: Live In New York City" and the launch of a brand-new CC Stand-Up Facebook App, which will provide fans with the opportunity to program the channel's Friday Night Stand-Up block. With the new Facebook App, COMEDY CENTRAL is putting the schedule into the hands of its viewers with fans able to watch playlists comprised of the upcoming weekend's featured comic's favorite comedians. By "Liking" them on Facebook and/or "Following" them on Twitter, viewers will be casting their vote for the Friday Night line-up with the top choices airing that night beginning at 9:00 p.m., starting off on January 6 with the comedians selected from Papa's playlist.
Currently, Papa is the host of "Come to Papa" on Sirius/XM 99, performs monthly at the UCB Theater in New York City, performs nightly at the Comedy Cellar and is on the road for a nationwide stand-up tour.
Papa was personally chosen by Jerry Seinfeld to serve as host of NBC's "The Marriage Ref" and has toured with him for the past eight years. As a seasoned stand-up comedian, Papa has been featured on COMEDY CENTRAL programming including two seasons of "COMEDY CENTRAL Presents" and "Premium Blend." A familiar face to late night television, Papa has made numerous appearances on the "Tonight Show with Jay Leno," "Late Night with Conan O'Brien," and "Late Show with David Letterman."
As an actor, Papa starred opposite Matt Damon in the Soderbergh film, "The Informant," and he will star opposite Paul Giamatti in the upcoming animated feature, "The Haunted World of El Super Beasto," as the voice of El Super Beasto. Additionally, he voiced a role in the DreamWorks animated feature "Bee Movie" and also was a writer on the project. Among his other big screen credits are the films "Analyze That," opposite Robert DeNiro and "Comedian." Additionally, Papa has also been seen on "The New Adventures of Old Christine."
