NEW YORK, August 25, 2008 -- Jon Stewart and "The Best F*ing News Team Ever!" have followed the political trail to Denver, CO and are set to attack the 2008 Democratic National Convention like no other news team in history. The Emmy® and Peabody® Award-winning "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart" will broadcast all week from the mile-high epicenter of American politics, with shows airing Tuesday, August 26 through Friday, August 29 at 11:00 p.m. ET/PT.
As part of its ongoing "Indecision 2008” coverage of the race for the White House, "The Daily Show: Look Who's Coming to Denver" coverage of the 2008 DNC will be taped at The Byron Theatre in the Newman Center for the Performing Arts at The University of Denver. On tap for the week will be the insightful coverage you've come to expect from the best F*ing News Team Ever - and this time they have their own bus and their own floor passes. The shows will include nightly reports from the convention floor about the issues that matter the most, in-studio guests and the highly anticipated Barack Obama biographical film.
The show will then head straight to the Republican National Convention in Minneapolis/St. Paul to present "The Daily Show: Restoring Honor and Dignity to the White House" which will tape at The History Theatre at McNally Smith College of Music with nightly shows at 11:00 p.m. ET/PT from Tuesday, September 2 through Friday, September 5.
"The Daily Show: Look Who's Coming to Denver" marks the sixth time the series has taken its critically-acclaimed and award-winning "Indecision" coverage on the road to broadcast for a week, having previously travelled to Philadelphia (2000 RNC), Los Angeles (2000 DNC) and Boston (2004 DNC) to cover the national party conventions and to Washington, D.C. (2002) and Columbus, OH (2006) for special, mid-term election coverage. The series first earned its political stripes during the now-infamous 2000 election, receiving an Emmy® Award and a prestigious George Foster Peabodyreg; Award for its year-long "Indecision 2000" coverage of the race for the White House, feats repeated during the series' "Indecision 2004" election reporting.
Politicians who have appeared on "The Daily Show" include former Presidents Bill Clinton and Jimmy Carter, former Vice President Al Gore, Senators John McCain, Barack Obama, Joe Biden, Hillary Clinton, John Kerry, Joseph Lieberman, Bob Kerrey, Charles Schumer, Norm Coleman, Arlen Specter, Ted Kennedy, Trent Lott, Rick Santorum, Russ Feingold, Barbara Boxer, Representatives Nancy Pelosi and Rahm Emanuel, New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani and Senator John Edwards, who announced his intention to run for the 2004 Democratic Presidential nomination during an appearance on the show on September 15, 2003.
