NEW YORK, March 12, 2007 -- Carlos Mencia returns in full force for the third season of "Mind of Mencia," premiering Sunday, April 1st at 10:00 p.m. on COMEDY CENTRAL. Mencia takes comedy to a whole new level with sixteen fresh, edgy new episodes, shot in studio and on location, based on Mencia's unique point of view of the world. He takes on such topics as ethnic stereotypes, race relations, immigration, war, patriotism and family, all presented with brutal honesty and unrelenting provocation through monologues, man-on-the-street interviews, commercial parodies and interaction with the studio audience. From show favorites such as Judge Carlos and Haj the Convenience Store Clerk to Carlosaurus Rex, the Sheik Rapper and the Dee Dee Dee song, Mencia creates a comedy universe of which he is the master.
Since its premiere in July 2005, "Mind of Mencia" became the second highest rated show on COMEDY CENTRAL following "South Park" originals and improved as season two ratings made double digit gains over the premiere season, consistently winning its timeslot with M18-24 and M18-34.
Encore presentations of this season's "Mind of Mencia" will air Tuesdays at 10:00 p.m. and 12:00 a.m. comedycentral.com will feature exclusive video content, including Mencia's weekly rant segment, the "Mencia Minute," plus a weekly Q & A video clip in which he answers questions from audience members and from the Web site's Blog. The show's new Blog will feature daily insider show information. Users will have the opportunity to submit their own videos that may be featured on the site. They will also be able to play games and download ring tones. The "Mind of Mencia" sitelet will also contain weekly video clips from the show, a photo gallery and episodic information.
Currently, Mencia stars opposite Ben Stiller and Michelle Monaghan in "Untitled Farrelly Brothers Project," a DreamWorks film directed by Peter and Bobby Farrelly, as Uncle Tito, the sarcastic and colorful manager of the hotel where Stiller's character stays on his honeymoon with the woman he hastily married (Malin Akerman), slated for release October 2007. Recently, Mencia completed the highly successful "The Punisher Tour," a sold-out headlining stand-up tour of over 60 cities. The tour sold over 270,000 tickets resulting in the biggest tour of any Latino comedian to date.
In addition, the "Mind of Mencia: Season 2 Uncensored" two-disc DVD set, featuring all 14 episodes, hits stores nationwide on Tuesday, April 3rd. It includes completely uncensored bonus materials and over 30-minutes of extras (deleted scenes, bloopers and outtakes), along with guest stars Dave Attell, Peter Boyle, Tony Hawk, Jamie Kennedy, Cheech Marin and Tracy Morgan.
Credits for "Mind of Mencia" include Carlos Mencia, Robert Morton ("Late Night with David Letterman") and Brian Hartt as executive producers with Lee Kernis and Tim Sarkes from Brillstein-Grey Entertainment serving as producers. Zoe Friedman is the executive in charge of production for COMEDY CENTRAL.
