COMEDY CENTRAL RECORDS® RECEIVES GRAMMY® AWARD NOMINATIONS
FOR STEVEN WRIGHT'S "I STILL HAVE A PONY" AND
GEORGE LOPEZ' "AMERICA'S MEXICAN"

NEW YORK, December 6, 2007 -- Two COMEDY CENTRAL Records® releases, Steven Wright's "I Still Have a Pony" and George Lopez' "America's Mexican," have been nominated for Grammy® Awards in the category of "Best Comedy Album," it was announced today by The Recording Academy. The 50th Annual Grammy Awards will be held February 10, 2008 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.

Almost 25 years in the making, Steven Wright's "I Still Have A Pony" was released in September of 2007. As the elder statesman of bizarre one-liners, Wright has had a decade-long career creating the smartest, surrealist, oddball comedy out there, delivered in his characteristic deadpan. His first album, "I Have A Pony," was Grammy-nominated when it was released in 1985 and has sold almost a million copies. The critically-acclaimed "I Still Have A Pony" includes the best of 20+ years of new material. Earlier in the year, COMEDY CENTRAL aired Wright's stand-up special "When The Leaves Blow Away," on which this album is based.

Renowned Latino comedian and actor George Lopez' album, "America's Mexican," released in September of 2007, is the audio version of his HBO special of the same name and was performed live in front of a packed house at the Dodge Theater in Phoenix, Arizona. Taken directly from his performance, Lopez delivers a hilarious routine touching on his own Latino roots, immigration and naturalization, modern-day kids, old-school values, interracial relationships, the E. coli outbreak and the future. His new album finds him at the top of his game as one of the spokespeople of his generation. In a first, "America's Mexican" was made available exclusively for download to own from iTunes and other major download sites two weeks prior to it being available for purchase in stores nationwide.

Prior acclaim for COMEDY CENTRAL Records include Lewis Black's "Lewis Black: Luther Burbank Performing Arts Center Blue" CD, nominated for a Grammy® Award in 2006 ("Best Comedy Album") and Black's 2007 release "Lewis Black: The Carnegie Hall Performance," recipient of the COMEDY CENTRAL Records first Grammy® Award for "Best Comedy Album."

Now in its fifth year as a label, past releases by COMEDY CENTRAL Records include: Dane Cook’s Double Platinum-selling "Retaliation," Platinum-selling "Harmful If Swallowed" and the recently released "Rough Around The Edges - Live From Madison Square Garden"; Demetri Martin's "These Are Jokes"; Jim Gaffigan's "Beyond The Pale"; D.L. Hughley's "Notes From The GED Section"; Mitch Hedberg's "Mitch All Together" and "Strategic Grill Locations," Dave Attell's "Skanks For The Memories"; Nick Swardson's "Party"; Jim Breuer's "Smoke 'n' Breu"; and Norm Macdonald's "Ridiculous."
