NEW YORK, February 7, 2006 -- Every Friday night, get ready for an hour of all-new laughs and side-splitting humor from today's hottest, most esteemed comedians. The tenth season of "COMEDY CENTRAL Presents" kicks off on Friday, February 17 with the premiere of "COMEDY CENTRAL Presents Rickey Smiley" at 9:00 p.m., followed by the premiere of "COMEDY CENTRAL Presents Ty Barnett" at 9:30 p.m.
Among the comedians in the line-up for the tenth season are several making a return to the "CCP" stage who are poised on the cusp of stardom including Nick Swardson ("RENO 911!," "Grandma's Boy") and Mike Birbiglia, who has a development deal with COMEDY CENTRAL and begins his own COMEDY CENTRAL-sponsored comedy tour this month to promote the release of his new COMEDY CENTRAL Records album "Two Drink Mike."
Others returning for an encore "CCP" performance include Ted Alexandro, Todd Barry, Greg Fitzsimmons and Andy Kindler. The tenth season is rounded out by a slew of stand-up stars making their maiden voyage to the "COMEDY CENTRAL Presents" stage such as Ben Bailey, Ty Barnett, Megan Mooney, Becky Pedigo, Rickey Smiley, and many more.
Since its debut in 1998, "COMEDY CENTRAL Presents" has prided itself on being one of the few remaining showcases and breeding grounds for top stand-up talent. The show features performances by the hottest stand-ups currently working the circuit with a special set designed to reflect each comedian's material and personality. The series has been a springboard for many successful careers in comedy including some of today's household names such as Wanda Sykes, Mario Cantone, Lewis Black, Darrell Hammond, Dane Cook, Greg Giraldo, Jim Breuer, Stephen Lynch and Mitch Hedberg.
"COMEDY CENTRAL Presents" is produced by RickMill Productions. Paul Miller and Kimber Rickabaugh from RickMill Productions served as executive producers of this season's episodes of "COMEDY CENTRAL Presents" with Miller directing. Lou Wallach is the executive in charge of production for COMEDY CENTRAL.
The tenth season of "COMEDY CENTRAL Presents" was filmed at New York City's historic Hudson Theatre and will air every Friday night with two all-new episodes each week at 9:00 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. "COMEDY CENTRAL Presents" will repeat Saturdays at 3:30 p.m. and Mondays at 10:30 p.m. and 12:30 a.m.
