COMEDY CENTRAL® HONORED WITH FIVE PRIMETIME EMMY NOMINATIONS


"The Daily Show With Jon Stewart" Cited For Program, Performance,Writing and Directing;
News Satire On A Roll After Winning Emmys In 2003, And Again in 2004


NEW YORK, July 14, 2005 -- COMEDY CENTRAL earned five nominations in the 2004-2005 Primetime Emmy Awards competition, it was announced today by the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (ATAS).

"The Daily Show with Jon Stewart," the network's unique news parody series, has been nominated for four Emmy Awards: Outstanding Variety, Music or Comedy Series, Outstanding Individual Performance In A Variety Or Music Program for Stewart's performance and Outstanding Writing For A Music Or Comedy Program. Chuck O'Neil, the program's director, was singled out by the television academy for the second year-in-a-row for Outstanding Directing For A Variety, Music Or Comedy Program.

"The Daily Show with Jon Stewart," already honored with five Primetime Emmys and 15 nominations over its six years, won two Emmys last year, for the series and for writing, the third time the two-time Peabody Award-winning show has won the writing Emmy and its second as best series.

"South Park," the adult-oriented animation phenomenon, home to Kyle, Stan, Kenny and Cartman, received its fifth nomination for the Emmy for Outstanding Animated Program (less than an hour).

The Emmy Awards will be presented during two ceremonies. The first, primarily for creative arts categories, will take place on Sunday, September 11, while the balance of the Emmys, primarily for the performing arts, will be announced before a black-tie audience during a primetime telecast (CBS) on Sunday, September 18. Both ceremonies will take place at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, CA.
