COMEDY CENTRAL® RECORDS RELEASES
"D.L. HUGHLEY: NOTES FROM THE GED SECTION" CD
HITTING STORES TUESDAY, JUNE 21
NEW YORK, June 13, 2005 -- D.L. Hughley's comedy is raw and unrelenting. He takes an unabashed urban view on the Middle East, diets and white folk getting killed by mountain lions. Released via COMEDY CENTRAL Records, "D.L. Hughley: Notes From The GED Section" CD will be available in stores nationwide and at http://shop.comedycentral.com.
"D.L. Hughley: Notes From The GED Section" CD contains over an hour of his most recent and best-of material recorded live in San Francisco. His biting comedy includes everything from race relations and politics to sex, marriage and drugs.
Best known for his portrayal of Darryl Hughley on UPN's hit show "The Hughleys" in which he created and starred for four seasons, Hughley has proved himself as one of the hardest working men in showbiz. Last year, he appeared along with fellow comedians Steve Harvey, Cedric the Entertainer and Bernie Mac in the "Crown Royal Kings Of Comedy Tour," the highest-grossing comedy tour ever. In 1999, the tour sold out in most of the major concert arenas in over 50 cities across the country, grossing over $37 million dollars. Eager to expose the success of the tour to an even larger audience, filmmaker Spike Lee directed "The Original Kings Of Comedy" a concert-film about the tour for MTV Films. The film has already grossed well over $30 million at the box office.
Hughley's success has continued with many television appearances including, "The Best of Def Comedy Jam," "Def Jam's Comedy All-Stars," MTV's "Comedy Half-Hour," "Entertainment Tonight," "48 Hours," Comedy Central's "Premium Blend," and "The Oprah Winfrey Show." He also served as a guest host on NBC's "Later" and has made numerous appearances on the such highly-rated national talk shows as "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno," "Late Night with David Letterman," "Late Night with Conan O'Brien," "The Rosie O'Donnell Show," "Politically Incorrect," and "Live with Regis & Kathie Lee."
COMEDY CENTRAL Records has previously released Todd Barry's "Falling Off The Bone," Jim Gaffigan's "Doing My Time," "The Marijuana Logues," Denis Leary's "Merry F#%$in' Christmas," Mitch Hedberg's "Mitch All Together," and "Strategic Grill Locations," "Lewis Black: Rules Of Enragement," "I Don't Mean To Insult You, But You Look Like Bobcat Goldthwait," "'Crank Yankers' The Best Uncensored Crank Calls" (Vol. 1, 2 and 3), "Dane Cook: Harmful If Swallowed," Dave Attell's "Skanks For The Memories" and Jim Breuer's "Smoke 'n' Breu."
