TELEVISION LEGEND NORMAN LEAR TAKES A TRIP DOWN TO "SOUTH PARK"

Norman Lear To Collaborate With "South Park" Creators
NEW YORK, March 17, 2003 -- Legendary television producer Norman Lear will collaborate with "South Park" creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker on several episodes of the award-winning series to air within the upcoming seventh season, which begins Wednesday, March 19 at 10:00 p.m. on COMEDY CENTRAL.
Longtime fans of Lear's work, Stone and Parker are thrilled to be working with one of their idols. "Norman is a genius," says Parker. "'All in the Family' was an inspiration to us and a whole generation." Stone adds, "We have so much respect for the groundbreaking television he's responsible for. We're honored that he's a fan of our show and has agreed to work with us."
"'South Park' is funny and irreverent in times that we need it most," says Lear. "My son introduced me to the show a few years ago and I've been a fan ever since."
Norman Lear has had a distinguished and award-winning career as a producer, director, comedy writer, screenwriter, political and social activist and philanthropist. Known best to the American public as the creator of Archie Bunker and "All in the Family," Lear's numerous television credits include "Sanford & Son," "Maude," "Good Times," "The Jeffersons," "Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman," "Fernwood 2Nite" and the dramatic series, "Palmerstown U.S.A.". Trey Parker and Matt Stone are co-creators and executive producers of the Emmy-nominated "South Park," with Anne Garefino also serving as executive producer. Launched in 1997, "South Park" remains the highest-rated series on COMEDY CENTRAL.
