Senior Vice President, Digital Media
Steve Grimes is Senior Vice President, Digital Media, COMEDY CENTRAL. Grimes is based in the network's New York City office and reports to Erik Flannigan, Executive Vice President, Digital Media, Viacom Entertainment Group. He comes to COMEDY CENTRAL from Topps, the legendary sports-card company owned by Michael Eisner where Grimes was Vice President and Chief Digital Officer.
Grimes is responsible for supervising the COMEDY CENTRAL digital media staff, as well as overseeing the networks’ digital media initiatives across all platforms, maximizing digital revenue growth opportunities and developing programming extensions to COMEDY CENTRAL shows. He also represents the channels’ interests within Viacom Media Networks.
Grimes joined Topps in 2008 as the company’s first chief digital officer where he had global responsibility for developing new digital offerings for the various brands within the Topps family. Before Topps, he spent more than 3 years at the NBA as Vice President, Interactive Services, responsible for the award-winning NBA.com Internet Network. In 2007, he was named to Sports Business Journal’s Top 20 most influential people in online sports. Prior to the NBA, Grimes spent more than five years as General Manager for RealNetworks, a leading creator of digital media services and software. He began his digital career in the early days of the Internet at Starwave Corporation, developing some of the first online advertising programs for ESPN.com, ABCNews.com and the official sites of the NFL, NASCAR and the NBA. Earlier, he held various positions in traditional advertising in Chicago and London.
Grimes attended the Plymouth College of Art & Design in Plymouth, England, where he graduated with honors.
