Executive Producer, Writer, Director, “Kroll Show”
Jonathan Krisel is a graduate of NYU's Film School. After graduation, he created a Brooklyn cable access series entitled “HyperDimensional Fortress.” His obsession with cable access, industrial films, video art and animation was a perfect fit when Tim Heidecker and Eric Wareheim came looking for someone to help them make the Adult Swim show “Tom Goes the Mayor.” In 2007, Krisel segued into the role of director and co-executive producer of “Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job!” Again, Jonathan edited, animated and worked as one of the writers. In 2009, he started making acclaimed shorts for FunnyorDie.com, such as “Rich Dicks” and “Ed Hardy Boyz” with comedian Nick Kroll. “Rich Dicks” went on to be developed as a COMEDY CENTRAL pilot. Krisel also co-directed, co-executive produced and edited the Adult Swim spin-off “Check it Out with Steve Brule” starring John C. Reilly. He then joined the staff of “Saturday Night Live” where he directed many digital shorts such as "The Curse" starring Jon Hamm and "Zach Drops by the Set" starring Zach Galifianakis. It was at “Saturday Night Live” where Jonathan met Fred Armisen, which lead to “Portlandia” coming together on the IFC Network.
Krisel has just finished co-executive producing and directing the entire third season of “Portlandia,” and is preparing for the release of the first season of “Kroll Show,” which he is executive-producing, writing, and directing for COMEDY CENTRAL.
