Executive Producer, Writer
Recently, Jay Martel wrote and directed the award-winning independent feature, "Terrorists." He wrote the VH1 movie, "Warning: Parental Advisory," and has worked as a writer, producer and correspondent on Bravo's Emmy® award-nominated "The Awful Truth With Michael Moore" and as a producer/head writer on COMEDY CENTRAL's "Strangers With Candy." Martel has also created television series for MTV and Nickelodeon and has written ten episodes of the children's show "Kenny the Shark" for NBC. Seven of Martel's plays have been produced in New York, including the critically-acclaimed "Death in a Landslide." He worked with filmmaker Michael Moore as writer and producer for two seasons on the Emmy® award-winning "T.V. Nation" (NBC, Fox), spent two years as head writer on the sketch-comedy show "The Apollo Comedy Hour" (Tribune Television), and performed the voice of Jimmy Stewart for COMEDY CENTRAL's cult-classic holiday special, "Escape from a Wonderful Life," which he also wrote and produced. Martel has served as executive producer on pilots for TNN, Noggin and VH1. He has been nominated three times for national Emmy® awards and twice for Writer's Guild Awards.
As a journalist, Martel has written for GQ, MotherJones, TV Guide, Vogue, and served for six years as Contributing Editor at Rolling Stone.
For the last seven years, Martel has written screenplays with Ian Roberts.
