Vice President, Brand Marketing
Jason Shafton is Vice President, Brand Marketing, COMEDY CENTRAL, reporting to Walter Levitt, Executive Vice President, Marketing, COMEDY CENTRAL.
In this role, Shafton will be responsible for COMEDY CENTRALís marketing efforts. This includes developing advertising campaigns for brand launches including the upcoming fall schedule, securing promotional and media partnerships for the brand, and planning COMEDY CENTRAL events.
Prior to joining COMEDY CENTRAL, Shafton was Head of Play Product and Social Marketing at Google, where he started in June 2006. During his stint, Shafton was responsible for consumer marketing of Google Play product launches globally as well as all social media marketing and consumer events. He also was part of the Android marketing team, launching Android Market on the web, Google Music and Google Play and led marketing teams internationally to launch music, movies, magazines, and books content verticals. Shafton received Operating Committee (OC) awards for the launches of Google Instant, Google Music and Android Honeycomb.
In addition, Shafton founded the independent record company Rubber Room Records in 2000 and has produced new music from singer songwriters, rock bands, hip-hop vocalists and everything in between. He managed talent and distributed releases under the Rubber Room Records imprint.
Shafton is also Executive Director and Chairman of the Board of Directors for Brute Labs, a non-profit focused on driving social change using design and technology. Since 2006, the organization has raised funds for international disaster relief.
Shafton earned a BA in Business Administration in Marketing at the University of Wisconsin.
