Gary Wilmes started his acting career at the Steppenwolf Theatre in Chicago. He appeared in the Neil Simon play, "Laughter on the 23rd Floor" for Fox Theatricals and recently played Tom Buchanan in ERS’s production of "Gatz" to acclaimed critical reviews at The Public Theatre, which was also nominated for a Drama League Award for Distinguished Production of a play in 2010. Wilmes co-starred in the Steppenwolf Tony Award-winning play, "August, Osage County" at the Sydney Theare Company in Australia, along with the original Broadway cast. In 2006, he won the Obie Award for Best Actor for his performance in "Red Light Winter," an Adam Rapp play produced by Scott Rudin.
Wilmes’ film credits include, "A Mighty Heart" and "Salt," with Angelia Jolie, "I Hate Valentine’s Day" opposite Nia Vardalos and "Birds of America" opposite Hilary Swank. He will soon be seen in Sam Neaves’ "Almost in Love," opposite Alan Cummings. His television credits include appearances on "Late Night with Conan O’Brien" and guest-starring roles on "Private Practice," "Mercy," "Nurse Jackie," "Delocated," "Numb3rs," "Law & Order" and "CSI."
Wilmes will appear in "Jon Benjamin Has A Van" premiering on Wednesday, June 15 at 10:30 p.m. on COMEDY CENTRAL.
