Executive Vice President, Strategy and Business Development - Viacom Entertainment Group
Dan Yang is Executive Vice President, Strategy and Business Development, for the Viacom Entertainment Group, which is comprised of a multi-platform portfolio of brands featuring the COMEDY CENTRAL, Spike TV and TV Land cable channels and the digital business, GameTrailers.com. Yang reports to John Cucci, Chief Operating Officer for the group.
Yang oversees strategic planning, operational initiatives, partnerships, and investments across the groupís assets. He is responsible for advising the groupís senior management on long-range business strategy, content deals, and distribution plans. Among other accomplishments, he was instrumental in Viacomís investment in Bellator Fighting Championships, led the formation and launch of the South Park Digital Studios Joint Venture, and played a key role in developing the TV Land Originals Strategy.
He is also General Manager of 345 Games, which publishes and licenses video games based on the groupís brands and television shows such as Deadliest Warrior: The Game, which became a top 10 best-selling XBLA title of that year. In addition, he manages the download-to-own video business for the group.
Yang was formerly Vice President of Operations for the Viacom Music Groupís Enterprises Division, where he was responsible for operations, strategy, and business development for all off-air businesses including home video, video games, syndication, direct-to-video film, and consumer products. He helped create the direct-to-video film business that launched Dale, which was nominated for 2 Emmys. He also expanded the groupís business in video gaming by leading the acquisition of Harmonix Music Systems, which became the leader in music-based games.
Previously, he was a consultant for Booz Allen Hamilton. He has a B.A. in economics from the University of California at Berkeley and an M.B.A. from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
