Raised in a broken, upper middle-class household, in which re-marriage and re-divorce were the norm, Kevin Williams's unique comedic perspective has been a long time in the making. The younger of two boys, Kevin was raised by his mother and her myriad of husbands, the most notable being a closeted-homosexual, alcoholic, costume shop owner. In a turbulent childhood, Kevin quickly learned a sense of humor was the only way to handle the dizzying instability around him.
Oh, yeah, his brother is gay. Don't worry; he'll talk about it.
Kevin Williams started his comedy career in Madison, Wisconsin while attending college. True to scholarly form, Kevin quickly proved himself proficient in the age-old art of "bait and switch". Feeling a bit unfulfilled, Kevin relocated to his hometown of Minneapolis, Minnesota to allow his true, personal style of comedy to mature and to emerge on stage.
Kevin Williams's comedy is smart, inventive and perfectly paced. All of his material is presented with his own slant, from topics unseen to those tread upon, but rediscovered anew. Kevin's comedy has been described as "optimistically cynical" for once he hits the stage, nothing is sacred, as Kevin tackles some of the darkest subjects with the lightest of heart, in the constant pursuit of the brighter side. Kevin captures an audience and allows them to laugh as they view the world from his own perverse perspective. Wherever he goes, Kevin Williams garners the respect of his peers and audiences alike.
In 2003, Kevin's ability was recognized by Comedy Central, as he was selected as a semi-finalist in the Comedy Central Laugh Riots Stand Up Competition. Sadly, Kevin did not win that contest, but his Second Runner Up title is hopefully a harbinger of good things to come.
