Q: What's the first joke you ever wrote?
A: It was a joke about the Ricki Lake Show and how the women would call men dogs in any situation.
Q: What is the source of your sense of humor?
A: The way my brain works, I find a premise and obsess over it until I can get what I want out of it - hopefully, something funny. Not very healthy, from a psychological standpoint, but I am getting help.
Q: In school, were you the class clown or quiet nerd?
A: I was athletic and I didn't think I was a nerd, but now that I look back, I had many nerd qualities.
Q: Is it better to be feared or loved on your way up the comedy ladder?
A: Loved, simply because fear is not an option. Starting out, you have no power, so people have no real reason to fear you. Even after you gain status, the best option is just to be funny, then you will succeed based on that.
Q: Your stardom: a karmic inevitability or old fashioned luck?
A: Stardom is not really the goal. Recognition is good, everyone wants to be validated, but the goal is to keep improving and to enjoy the small victories along the way.
