Rob Riggle joined the cast of The Daily Show with Jon Stewart in September 2006 and within a year the military veteran had convinced the show's producers to let him travel to Iraq (without the use of green screen technology) and report on the war.
In August 2007, Riggle implemented Operation Silent Thunder, spending a week with the troops -- as well as touring as part of a USO comedy show -- and then reporting on his findings on to Jon.
As a United States Marine Corps officer, Rob served in Liberia, Kosovo and Afghanistan. He has over 19 medals and ribbons as a result of his service, to include the Combat Action Ribbon. He is currently a Major in the Marine Corps Reserves. (Ask him about a lesson he learned called... "Always read the fine print!")
Rob -- who was born in Louisville, Kentucky and raised in Overland Park, Kansas -- graduated from the University of Kansas with a Bachelor's in Theater and Film and later went on to get his Master's degree in Public Administration. He's been performing sketch and improv comedy in New York and Los Angeles for the last nine years as part of the Upright Citizens Brigade Theater. He's appeared in several television and film projects. He was a cast member on Saturday Night Live from 2004-2005. He has appeared on "The Office" and "Arrested Development." He has also appeared numerous times on Late Night with Conan O'Brien from 1998 to 2004. Rob can also be seen in films like "Blackballed: The Bobby Dukes Story," with Rob Corddry. Most recently he had small part in "Talladega Nights, the Ballad of Ricky Bobby" and coming this December you can see him in "Unaccompanied Minors."
Rob currently lives on both coasts, because according to him, "...that's how I roll...." Rob is also currently seeing a team of doctors, all of whom hate him. However, this doesn't bother Rob because, according to him, "...I hate them too...."
Rob's heroes include, but are not limited to: Teddy Roosevelt, J.F.K., George Washington, Chesty Puller, Elvis Presley, Pricilla Presley, Elvis' former bodyguard "Red", Harvey Keitel, Floyd Gondolli, Vince Lombardi, Lenny Bruce, Tom Brady, Sen. John McCain, Eddie Murphy, Tony Robbins, Sen. Daniel K. Inouye, General Anthony Zini, Ashlee Simpson, Col. Joshua Chamberlin, Dick Vermeil, Tammy Bruce and "Goofer" from Lee Mace's Ozark Opry.
