[--Live at Gotham Q&A--]
Q. Name?
A. Lachlan Patterson
Q. Where do you live?
A. I was born and raised in Vancouver, British Columbia and I split my time between there and Los Angeles
Q. Who is your comedy hero?
A. Brian Regan. I love him. He combines his skill as a hard working writer with his talent as a hilarous performer. He's not trying to change the world with his comedy, he's just about having a great time. I haven't watched him in five years cause I ended up emulating him in my own performances.
Q. What made you decide to strive for a career in comedy?
A. I suck at everything else. I've tried every job I've ever wanted to and this is the only one I love.
Q. What career would your parents have chosen for you?
A. My dad reminds me everyday I should be a plumber or an electrician or something. 7 years ago he gave me a contract stating if I haven't made it in Comedy I must return to trade school or Business school and left it for me to sign. I never signed it but I keep it with me everywhere I go.
Q. Have you ever tanked onstage?
A. Of course. All the time. It sucks. The last time I bombed badly was at the Montreal Comedy Festival and I was so upset after I got off stage I didn't go downstairs to the greenroom for 15 minutes. I just sat behind the curtain and buried my head in my hands while the show went on.
Q. Everyone's a geek in some way. What kind of a geek are you?
A. I've watched every Star Trek Next Generation, I love Video Games and I never miss Shark Week.
Q. What song is trapped inside your brain right now?
A. Total Eclipse of the Heart by Bonnie Tyler.
Q. What will you do with yourself after the fall of civilization?
A. Make a fort.
Q. What is your greatest memory from your time with Live at Gotham?
A. Popping a bottle of Champagne with my friends and toasting to my arrival.
