Andy Kaufman didn't consider himself to be a comedian in the traditional sense of the word. Andy felt that would put undue pressure on the audience to laugh, and it wasn't always his aim to get the audience to laugh. He looked to elicit a reaction - a real reaction - be it laughter, sadness or anger. Andy often times pushed the edge of the envelope as the innovator of performance art. Labeled by many as an eccentric, he was a brilliant artist whose comic legacy continues to live on long after his death.
