Luis Jimenez and Moonshadow host the highly popular "El Vacilon de la Manana", weekday mornings on top-rated New York radio station La Mega 97.9 FM (WSKQ). It is the highest rated Spanish language radio program in the country. Luis Jimenez has hosted the show for more than ten years. He was recently named one of New York's 25 Most Influential Latinos by the New York Post. Additionally, Luis was the first radio personality to receive Billboard's Latin Music Award nomination for his hit comedy record "El Vacilon de la Manana's Tortilla Party." In 2000, He was joined by his current co-host, Moonshadow, who had hosted "El Gufeo Matutino", the number one morning radio show in Puerto Rico for more than twenty years. Together, Luis and Moonshadow have surged to the top of the morning radio ratings, and recently even knocked ratings king Howard Stern from his perch. John Mainelli of the New York Post says: "Spanish-language station Mega 97.9 is the new wake-up radio king." Their live comedy shows, which they produce and direct, regularly play to sell-out crowds at Carolines on Broadway in New York City. The New York Daily News calls the radio show "a fast-paced, sometimes raunchy show that focuses on celebrities, lifestyle, sex, listener tales and other familiar morning fare." The show has had its share of celebrity guests, including Jennifer Lopez, Ricky Marttin, Enrique Iglesias, Donald Trump, Paul Rodriguez and Dr. Ruth, just to name a few. Their live comedy shows - which feature stand-up, sketch and musical comedy - feature the top Latino stand-out stand-ups in the country.
