Peter Hulne

Born in Chicago, Illinois as an identical twin, Peter Hulne always enjoyed the attention of being a twin. At an early age, he did impressions and a handful of his own characters to make the family laugh. At first, Hulne’s family thought it was a phase, but eventually they saw his talents were undeniable and knew he would someday entertain. During high school, the neighboring all-girl high school needed some young men to be in its theater productions. Hulne jumped at the chance and started performing in their plays and was instantly bitten by the acting bug.

His inspirations came from watching shows like “All in the Family,” “The Carol Burnett Show,” “The Dick van Dyke Show” and “Saturday Night Live.” However, improvisation became his main focus and, wanting to master the technique, he began taking classes at Piven Theater Workshop, Second City, Improv Olympic and the Annoyance Theater. Through improv, he also developed a love for physical comedy and was influenced by watching cartoons and “The Three Stooges.”

Hulne studied at Northeastern University, Illinois State and finally at Columbia College in downtown Chicago, with a B.A. in Advertising Art and a minor in Theater. While in Chicago, he did national commercials for Miller Lite and Bud Light and was also a spokesperson for Ford Trucks. He eventually landed his first movie role in the comedy, "Celtic Pride," opposite Damon Wayans and Gail O’Grady. In 1996, Hulne decided to give Los Angeles a try, headed out for pilot season and has been plugging away ever since. Hulne has appeared in "Elf," "Anchorman," and "Employee of the Month," to name a few films, and has guest-starred on TV shows including “All of Us” and “The Naked Trucker and T-Bones Show.” He currently stars as Sam, the put-upon garage owner, on Comedy Central's "American Body Shop."

In his off time, Hulne enjoys performing with his improv group, “BeerSharkMice,” who have known each other from their struggling days in Chicago, but now perform mainly at the I.O.West Theater in Hollywood. They also plan to write a movie in the next year or so. In addition, he enjoys hitting the basketball court and fixing up his new 66 Thunderbird. Hulne also contributes his time to the Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis L.A. Chapter as his mother passed away due to ALS.

Hulne currently resides in Los Angeles with his wife Linda and their two children.
